just a touch of love

as I write I am watching “sister act”. It was on tv this morning and i haven’t seen it in a while. It has inspired me to write…

In the movie Whoopi Goldberg has to hide out in a convent in order to testify against a bad guy. Anyway… she is a lounge singer who is very different from any nun I have ever seen. At one point in the movie she goes across the street in the middle of the night to the bar and some of the nuns follow her. The Reverend Mother obviously gets mad and tells her that they can’t do that because the walls of the church are what protect them.

Isn’t that what’s wrong with a lot of churches today. ( I am talking about myself too). I mean… really! Why are we hiding behind walls when God is protecting us. Go into the world people, don’t be a wuss!

As the story continues… the head lady finally lets them start singing “secular” songs that are popular in the community and the people on the streets start coming in. They are being relevant to the outsiders. Geez!

So… they became relevant to the community and what happened?

They were making a difference outside the walls and it brought people into them…
